runnin’ down a dream

In 2016, we had a crazy idea: bring a vineyard to a map dot called San Ysidro, and create a place where people can connect while enjoying the best of the high-desert lifestyle.

A great idea, to be sure. But to implement it would take more than any of us knew. In 2016, we weren’t thinking about that - all we knew was that there must be a way. So, a half-dozen like minded people with a shared dream rented the first piece of machinery, and into the red dirt went the first hole.

THe Waiting

What do brushfires, rash-causing wild asparagus, and a few hundred T-posts have in common? They all paid us a visit in those first few months. Many campout nights and even more long work days later, the dream was starting to take shape - a functioning vineyard was blooming right in front of us. And so it was, a little over a year after our first hole was dug, we had our first Malbec, Temperanillo, and Chambourcin tendrils proudly soaking up sun and water in their quest towards maturity.

Into the great wide open

With a functioning (if needy) vineyard under our per-view, the team pressed through the first couple of years with resolve, knowing the first grapes were on the way. In 2020, after the cold had peeled away from our beloved tendril-filled plot of earth, warmth visited us, bringing with it our first grapes.

We knew we had a ways to go, but to see the fruition of so many months of hard work was all the reward we could have asked for. Delighted, we knew the time was almost at hand to open up to the world and share the goodness with all.

LEARNING TO FLY

Fast forward to today. With a few years of experience under our belts, a dozen (and growing selection of) hand-crafted wines, a cider that we make in our own little shop, a growing community of guests, and big plans on the horizon, we are here, in a small map-dot called San Ysidro, in a place where people can connect while enjoying the best of the high-desert lifestyle.
